Lee Richarz founded Richarz Repair LLC in 2010 from a service truck and shop on his acreage where he started working on heavy diesel equipment. As he started to grow the business, he hired several mechanics. It was his desire to provide high quality diesel services in the area. Lee had several respected years of experience in diesel mechanics and enjoyed his connection to his customers and supporting them with a service that would enhance their ability to conduct their business.

In 2012, Richarz Repair moved to a newly constructed 80 x 180 (14,400 sf) building with shop and office space. Located just west of Larchwood, IA, the addition of new customers and employees came quickly. The shop increased services with its over-the-road service trucks which cover Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska and southern Minnesota. The shop has a great selection of inventory, a knowledgeable parts department and the ability to repair many kinds of equipment. The success of the Richarz Repair business led to being recognized by the Lyon County Economic Advisory Board for the 2014 and 2019 Business Builder award.

As the business continued to grow, Richarz Repair added another 90 x 150 (13,500 sf) expansion to the shop in 2018. This addition added more shop space to accommodate a truck shop and a truck dyno tuner. Richarz Repair also has the ability to make various hydraulic hoses on site.

In order to grow the mechanic industry, Richarz Repair has attended career fairs and partners with several local schools to assist students in job training and sponsoring post secondary programs. Students from diesel mechanic programs at Southeast Technical Institute and Northwest Iowa Community College have toured the shop and observed demonstrations as well as other organizations. In 2024, Lee was featured in Pifer's Auction, “Legacy of Agriculture” program which shared his early history and business goals.

In 2025, Richarz Repair completed another 175 x 125 (21,875 sf) shop for additional space for heavy equipment repair, a wash bay and welding services. The business also expanded the office and parts area to increase space for more inventory. Currently, the business has 39 employees. Richarz Repair LLC has the skilled employees to continue to grow the business and looks forward to continuing to expand and increase services in order to best serve our customers.
